Climbing tower in mass timber in Toulouse, France

Høyt & Lavt Adventure Concepts’ first international mass timber tower.

Høyt & Lavt Adventure Concepts’ first international mass timber tower was built at Natura Game adventure park in Toulouse, France. The project marks an important milestone for us and is a clear example of how Norwegian solutions within mass timber, climbing towers, sustainability, and safety are now gaining a foothold in the European market.

Taking the Adventure Park to the Next Level

Natura Game adventure park, located just outside Toulouse, was established in 2010. In recent years, the park has undergone extensive redevelopment, resulting in a significant increase in visitor numbers. As Natura Game approached its 15th anniversary in 2025, the team wanted to take the next step and further develop the park with something new and distinctive in the market.

A mass timber climbing tower based on Skarvetårnet at Høyt & Lavt Geilo was the perfect fit – both as a new attraction and as an architectural landmark for the park. Natura Game therefore became one of the first adventure parks in Europe to commission a spectacular climbing and observation tower from us at Høyt & Lavt Adventure Concepts.

A Mass Timber Climbing Tower – Built for the Future

The new climbing tower at Natura Game is based on the same proven concept that we have previously delivered to clients including SkiGeilo in Norway. Using prefabricated mass timber elements manufactured by KLH Massivholz, the project combines high structural strength with a reduced carbon footprint.

Mass timber offers several advantages for this type of structure:

  • Lower CO₂ footprint compared with traditional materials such as steel and concrete
  • High strength and stability, making it ideal for complex climbing towers
  • Shorter construction time thanks to prefabricated elements
  • Natural aesthetics that blend harmoniously with the surrounding environment

For us at Høyt & Lavt Adventure Concepts, mass timber is more than just a choice of material – it is part of our long-term strategy to create more sustainable activity facilities.

Sustainable Climbing Towers for an International Market

The project in France is a tangible result of several years of development within sustainable adventure structures. Our goal has been to demonstrate that Norwegian mass timber structures can compete internationally in terms of quality, design, and safety.

Through projects like this, as well as Storen and the via ferrata solution delivered to Høyt Under Taket, we continue to build valuable experience in combining innovation and functionality in demanding environments.

The completed tower at Natura Game is clear proof that sustainable climbing structures have a natural place in modern adventure parks across Europe.

Safety as the Foundation of Every Climbing Tower

When building climbing towers for public use, safety is always the highest priority. At Høyt & Lavt Adventure Concepts, all our structures are developed with a strong focus on:

  • Documented structural safety
  • Load calculations and certification
  • Material quality and long service life
  • Safe solutions for both operations and the user experience

Mass timber also provides highly predictable structural properties, making it a robust and reliable choice for tall activity structures.

From Norway to France – and Further into Europe

For the team behind the project, the delivery to France represents much more than just another climbing tower. It is a symbol of how Norwegian expertise in adventure parks, climbing towers, and mass timber is becoming increasingly relevant far beyond our home market.

“There is always something special about seeing something you have helped develop take on a new life in another country. This is an important confirmation that sustainable mass timber structures from Norway have international potential,” says Stein Ivar Hovland, Project Manager for the construction of the tower in Toulouse.

With the Natura Game project, we at Høyt & Lavt Adventure Concepts have taken an important step in our international expansion – with the ambition of delivering more innovative, safe, and sustainable climbing towers in the years ahead.
